For the academic year 2025-26, students from grades VII to XII across 100+ Akal Academies in rural Punjab are set to acquire world-class AI skills under the mentorship of Dr. Sandeep Singh Sandha. An IIT Roorkee graduate in Computer Science and Ph.D. in AI from the Henri Samueli School of Engineering, University of California, Los Angeles, Dr. Sandha’s groundbreaking thesis on AI—specifically the Mango library—is integral to designing commercial CPUs powering billions of devices, including Samsung and iPhone smartphones.
As a heartfelt contribution to his Punjab roots, Dr. Sandha has launched the Punjab AI Excellence Program. A distinguished AI researcher, he serves as a program committee member for leading AI conferences and reviews top journals in the field. With over 50 research articles published in prestigious journals and conferences, Dr. Sandha also plays a pivotal role in guiding IITs across the country on AI strategies—truly a nation-building initiative.
Dr. Sandha brings a wealth of industry experience, having led AI research at Abacus.AI, Amazon, ARM, Teradata, IBM, and Oracle. His research is implemented in real-world applications, ranging from controlling robots to precision agriculture strategies.
